Key Stage 1 Sats are a legal requirement for any pupil attending school in England and Wales.
The SATs test must be administered in the month of May - however, the specific date and day is at the discretion of the class teacher. These tests are used to inform Teacher Assessment and is merely one piece of evidence that Mr Price will collate and use to make his assessment on your child's ability.
SATS provide schools with an understanding of areas of learning where pupils excel or where they may need a little bit more support as they progress through St. John's.
They are important but will be administered will as little fuss as possible. Children will be extensively prepared by the KS1 staff and ahead of May will complete old SATs papers with teachers support and independently, so that they are familiar with the structure of the booklets. Hopefully, children will feel relaxed and believe that the official SATs booklets are no different to the older ones they have completed.
