Home Learning Tasks - Week Beginning 29/06/20

Hi Year 2! We hope you are all okay. Here are your learning tasks for this week. As it is National Sports Week, the theme for the week is 'Sport'.

Don't forget to log into 'Education City' to complete the tasks set on there too.  Contact us if you have any problems or questions. Enjoy!

Reading: Please continue to read daily for at least 15 minutes and record your reading in your 'Reading Record'. If you've read all of your school books you could click here and read this book about "Sport: Now and Then". We've also included two different reading activities on the theme of Sport. You'll find the document links below. Please choose the one that suits you - 1 star is the easiest and 3 stars is the most challenging. (You'll find the stars at the bottom of each page.)

Maths: Statistics

1) Watch the videos on Discovery Education: Espresso (see link below) or click here. You'll need to enter the username and password and then go to KS1: Maths: Statistics: Videos (There are 3 different videos to watch). Then have a go at the activities (The activities link is to the left of the page).

2) Complete the Statistics Home Learning Activity Booklet (see link below).

English Skills: The Mystery of the Sports Day Trophy Snatcher!

1) This week we'd like you to use the grammar, punctuation and spelling skills you've learnt to solve a mystery!

Spelling: See Week 2 on the new grid attached last week. Week 2 continues to revise suffixes (-less and -ly). There are links below to a presentation that will remind you of the rules we learnt and handwriting sheets. Learn the spellings in this column and then get someone to test you at the end of the week! Remember to keep practising any tricky words from previous weeks!

Science: What do humans need to stay healthy?

1) Watch the video here, do the activity on the page and finish with the quiz to check your learning.

2) Design a poster to remind your family what they should and shouldn't do to stay healthy at home.

P.E.: St John's Virtual Sports Day

1) Click here, to watch Mr Price demonstrate the Virtual Sports Day events we'd like you to enter this week. There is one event for each day of the week. Don't forget to send in your scores!

2) Design your own obstacle/multiskills course in your garden. Challenge each member of your family to have a go. Why not time them to see who completes it in the quickest time? (Ideas for some of the stations could be: skipping x .... , speed bounce over a rolled up towel x .... , shuttle runs from one spot to another x .... , bouncing a ball x ....  etc ) Or count to see who does the most jumps / skips/ bounces etc in a minute? You could link this to your statistics work and complete a bar chart to show the results.
