Last night, St John's Community Choir joined forces with Churnet Valley male Voice Choir for a concert in St John's church. The performance was to raise funds for the church and for the Headway charity. I cannot tell you just how proud I was of the choir. Singing in extreme heat, and with a low turn out, their performance was remarkable. They sang with great maturity and skill, watched me closely and added such wonderful dynamics to each song that they sang. The chosen songs showed the wider ranging skills of this choir. They sang with passion and their renditions were genuinely moving. It was definitely the best performance of the year.
Members of the male voice choir and the church community, were clearly astounded that young people could produce such a beautiful sound.
HUGE thanks to all pupils, parents, supporters and staff who came to offer their support on such a warm evening. Thank you too to the Male Voice choir for their support, encouragement and genuine praise and to the church for their very hard work and commitment. The cakes were lovely and very welcome.
VERY well done choir. A beautiful mature performance which raised a wonderful £150 for Headway.
