Thank you for taking the time to visit our website. We hope that you enjoy finding out more about us.
We are a small rural school located in a picturesque setting in the village of Wetley Rocks. Our school caters for children from the age of 4-11 years taught in single age classes and the majority of our pupils transfer at the age of 11 to the local High School, Moorside High School, Cellarhead. A private provider, Early Stages, offers nursery provision and before and after school care from our site.
Standards at our school are extremely high both academically and through our extra-curricular provision. Academically we are at least in line with the Local Authority and national and in most areas we are above. Through our extra-curricular provision we are committed to developing young people in many ways; we have an outstanding choir who perform at many venues in Staffordshire and all our children have the opportunity to learn the violin in curriculum time plus peripatetic music teachers visit school to provide woodwind, brass, string and guitar tuition. Our sports calendar is extremely full and our teams successfully represent their school in competitive sports throughout the year and we have intra-school non competitive sports days each term for all our pupils.
Our school works in partnership with a cluster of 10 schools in the South Moorlands Learning Community. This collaborative working enhances opportunities for both our pupils and staff. We hold joint extension activities for pupils and training opportunities for staff.
We have an international partnership through Erasmus+, a British Council initiative, with 4 international schools from Turkey, Poland, Germany and Italy and our most recent project 'Skills for the Future of Europe' focused on engineering and design.
Choosing the right education for your child is one of the most important things you will do for them. At St John's we believe that education is not just a preparation for life - education is life itself! We are extremely proud of all of our children and our committed, caring and talented staff enjoy working with them each day helping them to flourish. Why not visit us and see for yourself our school in action. You will always be made very welcome.
