How it works:
Pupils are assigned a book level based on an online assessment. Pupils can read any book within this level. On completion of the book, pupils take an online quiz – our pass rate target is 85%.
Reading Engaged Time (per day)
The program calculates how long each pupil is reading each day using the number of words in the book (word count) and the time taken between each quiz. Our target is for an engagement time of 30 minutes per day – some of this will be done in school, but the majority will need to be done at home.
Staff can access a number of reports which monitors your child’s reading. I will let you know at regular intervals how your child is performing via their reading record. Please feel free to ask for this information at any time.
Success:
To increase success rates, you can ask your child to tell you about the story they are reading or discuss any new vocabulary with them. Use the bookmarks they have been given to ask them questions about the book. To increase your child’s success rate even further, complete the vocabulary quiz associated with the book. This will enable your child to make accelerated progress in all areas of Literacy.
A large proportion of the children still need to secure an accurate knowledge of their multiplication facts up to 12 x12. Follow these links to help them increase their knowledge and speed.
UR Brainy – timed tests with evaluations at the end.
BBC Supermovers – Songs to help the children remember these key facts.
Speed Test Times Tables – You can choose which tables that you practise.
