Year 2 have had a fantastic year and have learnt and grown an enormous amount. I am very proud of them all and they are ready for Year 3 and Key Stage 2 now!
I hope they all a fantastic summer holiday. Relax, enjoy, stay safe and have fun.
But if you fancy some homework over the holidays - here are a few activities they could have a go at.
Year 2 Explorer Project Homework Competition
Christopher Columbus & Neil Armstrong
Several weeks ago I set some homework for Year 2 in order to prepare them for their new topic on two extremely famous explorers- Christopher Columbus and Neil Armstrong.
Little did I know how impressed I would be with the work that the children produced at home. They have clearly worked extremely hard on their projects and have produced some amazing, unique and impressive models, presentations, pictures, sculptures, maps, figurines, dioramas ships and much more!
Before we announced the winners (who were chosen by a selection of teaching staff) the children created a gallery of work and spent several minutes evaluating each others work. Sharing their thoughts on the pieces that had been completed and posing questions to the creators.
The children clearly enjoyed the chance to give each other positive feedback and to receive answers to any questions that they had.
There were 4 runners-up who each received a small prize.
They were Faith, Luke, Ellie and Noah.
This year's projects were so impressive that I decided to hand out 3 top prizes instead of 2.
Congratulations to Lois, Wilson and Fearne who all receive a £5 gift voucher for Waterstones.
But a huge thank you to all the boys and girls who took part in the project with such energy and enthusiasm.
And to the parents, friends and family who have helped create a fantastic display in our Year 2 Classroom!
Children were judged on:
How much time it would have taken?
How much have they learnt about our 2 explorers, as a result of their project?
How much help have they had?
How original and aesthetically pleasing was their project?
